In the latest episode of The Mental Game of Poker Podcast I get to speak with the most successful female poker player of all time fresh off the back of a $1.4 million winning trip at the PCA.

We have a very high level discussion on how she manages her energy to make sure that rather than playing he zone all the time, she works hard to play in the zone at the most important time. We discuss:

  • Knowing when not to play in a tournament and how to avoid burning out.

    What do you think about the concept of purposely pushing yourself to your max, in more “practice” type situations, in means of a type of practice to prepare yourself to preform better when you actually need to push yourself to the max mentally in the bigger spots and times?

  2. I think it’s a great idea. It’s called overtraining and it’s done more commonly in endurance sports like track or swimming. Give it a try and see what you find. I’m a big believer in testing/experimenting and seeing what kind of results you can produce.
